Shack

Hidden away in a small riverbend branching from the Sea, the shack of the Mysterious Sea Priestess (or Sea Hag, depending on who's telling the story - same story, different versions, but all are true), where pirates come to for aid and a little bit of voodoo magic to set them on their way. Enter - if you dare!

Scott approached the shack and knocked enthusiastically on the door, a bottle of rum in his hand.

She opens the door, two wine glasses on her hand, which is resting on her hip. "Ah, witty Scott. You brought me a gift?" She enquires playfully.

"Indeed I did, dear Yolande," he nodded. "I needed to escape the constant squabbling amongst the screech of that violin."

She hands him the glasses so he can pour the rum, and chuckles, "But witty Scott brought the girl owith the violin on board, no?" She asks with a tentative grin.

"I did not anticipate the instant dislike that her and Rowan would take to each other," he shrugged, pouring the two glasses and handing her one. "Her skills waver; some days her music is beautiful, other days it's unbearable."

She takes the glass "And so you came to Yolande, dear old sea hag, to drink the problems away?"

"You are the only one - besides me, of course - who truly appreciates this marvellous elixir," he said, holding up his glass.

"Witty Scott, him drinks too much -" She takes a swig, "But 'tis a marvellous drink indeed." She says, walking further into the shack and sitting on the table. "And you came for nothing else? Every'one come - and every'one leave wit' something." She raises an eyebrow, waiting.

"Only the pleasure of your company, dear," he replied, taking a swig from his glass. "Just be warned, if Rowan ever arrives at your door - the boy who doesn't speak - and requests any type of voodoo, do not grant his wish. It is probably for Clarice."

She laughs. "Tell me, 'ow is the Enchantress these days? Yolande 'ears stories of her...From scared sailors." She says with a wry smile.

"We recently had a stowaway sneak aboard," he said. "Little ratty kid, couldn't have been older than ten."

She laughs at him. "A ship full of pirates an' yet none of cha could notice a stowaway?" She drinks "Behold, this be de crew of de mighty Enchantress." She smirks.

"He hid in an empty crate," he grinned. "Which means our crate of rum is sitting lonely on the port, unless someone else has discovered it."

"Of course I lost something - I lost a well sought after crate of rum," he replied. "The crew's still undecided about what to do with said stowaway."

She considers this. "Tis always useful to have a smaller pair of hands on deck." She drinks, "Children be easier to influence than older ones. It would be wise to keep de boy, you can always throw him overboard if him useless." She suggests.

"Some of the crew have morals, dear Yolande," he said, taking a sip from his glass. "Throwing a ten year old boy overboard would cause more tension than is already present, and that is something at least me and Evangeline would like to avoid, since Rowan and Clarice are already irritating enough."

"They are forever winding each other up like those violin strings. At first it was amusing to watch, but now it is simply tedious."

"Tis not a good sign, chaild." She says ominously. "Dem waters are dangerous, and a broken crew is a broken ship."

"Trust me, my dear, we have told them that repeatedly. Although they fight often, I believe that they do care about each other, like the rest of the crew does. Neither would leave the other to die, I don't think."
